Made in Heaven
Made in Heaven is Queen's fifteenth and final studio album, released on 6 November 1995. It is the only record issued under the Queen name after Freddie Mercury's death in November 1991. Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon took the vocal and piano parts Mercury had recorded before he died and built new instrumentation around them. Both stages of work, before and after his death, took place at the band's studio in Montreux, Switzerland.
It went straight to number 1 in the UK, where it reached quadruple platinum with 1.2 million copies sold. The sleeve is a nice touch: Irena Sedlecká's statue of Mercury by Lake Geneva appears on the front, while the back shows the three remaining members looking out at the Alps on the CD, or at the sunrise on the LP. It was the last album Deacon worked on before retiring from music in 1997.
