Stone Cold Classics
Stone Cold Classics is a Queen compilation, released on 11 April 2006 by Hollywood Records. It appeared to coincide with an episode of the US television series American Idol, in which contestants performed songs from the band's catalogue.
The record sits well outside Queen's run of fourteen studio albums, which began with their 1973 debut and ended with Made in Heaven in 1995. It is a collection rather than a new chapter, aimed at listeners who had just heard the songs on television and wanted them in one place. For anyone coming to the British rock band through that broadcast, it offers a straightforward way in before heading off to the studio albums themselves.
