The Distillers is where the American punk rock band's recorded story begins. It came out in 2000 on Hellcat Records, and it introduced the group before the records that would follow.

It is the first of three releases under the band's own name in the studio-album run, ahead of Sing Sing Death House in 2002 and Coral Fang in 2003. For anyone tracing how the band developed, this is the place to start, a first statement from a punk act at the very start of its career.
