Illud Divinum Insanus
Illud Divinum Insanus is the eighth studio album by American death metal band Morbid Angel, released in June 2011 on Season of Mist. It arrived after the longest gap the band had left between studio records, following Heretic in 2003, and it marked a real change of direction by bringing elements of industrial metal into their sound.
The line-up shifted too. Guitarist Destructhor and drummer Tim Yeung appear here and on no other Morbid Angel album, while Pete Sandoval sat this one out as he recovered from surgery, making it the first record without him. It is also the only album with David Vincent on bass and vocals since his return in 2004. Anyone tracing the band's story from Altars of Madness to Kingdoms Disdained will find this the point where they most clearly moved off the expected path.
