Formulas Fatal to the Flesh
Formulas Fatal to the Flesh is the fifth studio album by Morbid Angel, the American death metal band, and it came out in February 1998 on Earache Records. It follows Domination from 1995 and marks a change of voice for the group, as Steve Tucker steps in as singer and bassist in place of David Vincent.
The shift runs through the words as well as the line-up. The Satanic themes of the earlier records give way to lyrics about the Old Ones, which would remain the band's main subject from here on, with some lines written in Sumerian. For anyone tracing how Morbid Angel moved from their first albums towards the second half of their catalogue, this is the record where that new lyrical world and a new frontman arrive together.
