Giving the Game Away is the fifth studio album by English hard rock band Thunder, released on 24 February 1999. Luke Morley, the band's lead guitarist, produced it after a recording session in April 1998. It's the first Thunder album to feature bassist Chris Childs, who arrived after Mikael "Micke" Höglund left in 1996. Japan got it first through Victor Entertainment, with Eagle Records following in Europe in March.

It turned out to be the last studio record before the band split for the first time the following year. Some reviewers found it too mellow, a step away from what had come before, and it had a short chart life, with one week at number 49 on the UK Albums Chart. It did reach number 2 on the UK Rock & Metal Albums Chart, though, and the singles "Play That Funky Music" and "Just Another Suicide (You Wanna Know)" reached numbers 39 and 49. Worth hearing for the band at a quieter, more reflective point.
