The Platinum Collection
The Platinum Collection is a three-disc box set from David Bowie, released on 7 November 2005 by EMI and Virgin Records. It surveys the years from 1969 to 1987, taking in everything from his early singles through the Ziggy Stardust era to his 1980s work.
The set is built from earlier pieces. The first disc matches The Best of David Bowie 1969/1974, issued in 1997, and the second matches The Best of David Bowie 1974/1979, from 1998. The third disc was new to this collection, covering 1980 to 1987, and later appeared on its own as The Best of David Bowie 1980/1987 on 19 March 2007, paired with a DVD of 1980s videos in EMI's Sight & Sound series. It suits anyone wanting a chronological walk through Bowie's career in one package.
