From the Inside
From the Inside is Alice Cooper's eleventh studio album, released on 17 November 1978 by Warner Bros. Records. It is a concept record drawn from his stay in a New York asylum while he was dealing with alcoholism, and every character in the songs is based on a real person he met there. It follows Lace and Whiskey from 1977 and comes before Flush the Fashion in 1980.
Bernie Taupin wrote lyrics for it, and guitarist Davey Johnstone and bassist Dee Murray, both long-time Elton John associates, also play on it. The power ballad "How You Gonna See Me Now" was the lead single and reached No. 12 on the US Hot 100. The album's mix of hard rock, glam and a little disco makes it an unusually personal chapter in Cooper's catalogue. It even inspired a comic book adaptation, Marvel Premiere No. 50.
