Flush the Fashion
Flush the Fashion arrived on 28 April 1980 on Warner Bros. Records, Alice Cooper's fifth solo album and twelfth studio record overall. It followed From the Inside from 1978 and found him stepping away from his usual hard rock approach towards something shaped by new wave. He recorded it at Cherokee Studios in Los Angeles with producer Roy Thomas Baker, whose credits include work with Queen and the Cars.
The lead single, "Clones (We're All)", climbed to number 40 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and pulled the album to number 44 on the Billboard 200. That made it Cooper's best-performing release since Lace and Whiskey in 1977. It is also his shortest album, running to just 28 minutes, so it moves along briskly. For anyone curious about how Cooper responded to the changing sound of the early eighties, it makes a lean and interesting listen.
