Dante XXI
Dante XXI is Sepultura's eleventh studio album, released on 14 March 2006. It is a concept album built around Dante Alighieri's The Divine Comedy, a fitting subject for a band whose music has long dealt in darkness and descent. It was issued on Tratore Music Brasil in the US and the wider world through SPV Records.
The record sits in the band's post-Roots era, following Roorback in 2003 and ahead of A-Lex in 2009. It also marks the last time Igor Cavalera played drums on a Sepultura album, which gives it a place in the group's history beyond its literary theme. Fans of their groove-heavy thrash will find a band applying that sound to an ambitious, story-driven project.
