Polythene
Polythene is the debut studio album by Feeder, the Welsh rock band who would go on to make a dozen studio records. The "Released" date for this one is May 1997, with a UK and Europe release following on 20 October 1997 through Elektra. A reissue added an enhanced CD version featuring "High", the single that gave the band their first UK top 40 hit, along with its video. The original pressing was withdrawn soon afterwards, which makes it a fairly rare find today.
It's the band at their most grunge-influenced, a sound they didn't return to on later albums, and critics at the time often called them the UK's answer to the Smashing Pumpkins. It only reached number 65 in the UK, yet sales stayed steady enough over twenty years to earn a Gold certification without ever entering the top 50. A VHS of the singles' videos followed in April 1998.
