Pushing the Senses
Pushing the Senses is the fifth studio album by Welsh rock band Feeder, released on 31 January 2005 on Echo. It follows 2002's Comfort in Sound and keeps to a similar style, though more of the songs were written at the piano. Frontman Grant Nicholas described the sound as more "organic" than its predecessor, and John Lennon was an influence on some of the songwriting.
Reviews were mixed. Many critics heard a move towards the territory of Keane and Coldplay, away from the sound of the band's first three albums, while Q thought it could finally establish Feeder as major league players. Listeners took to it: the album reached the UK top five, the band's highest chart position, and lead single "Tumble and Fall" also made the top five. It spent 15 weeks in the top 75, well short of Comfort in Sound's 36.
