Judas Priest

Popularity53.1

Judas Priest is an EP released on 30 October 1996 through Columbia. It is self-titled, which can make it easy to confuse with the band's other records, but it sits at a particular moment in their story: it came out shortly before Jugulator, their studio album of 1997, and after Painkiller, which appeared in 1990.

For anyone following the band's catalogue, it falls in the gap between those two studio albums, a stretch of several years in which the group's career was moving into a new phase. It is a small release rather than a full statement, best approached as a footnote to the long run of albums that began with Rocka Rolla in 1974.
