First Blood... Last Cuts
First Blood... Last Cuts is W.A.S.P.'s first compilation, released on 25 October 1993 through Capitol Records. It gathers material from the band's years with the label, and it arrived as a contractual obligation after Blackie Lawless and the band left Capitol/EMI. Lawless said the label had reached the point where it would no longer support this kind of music.
The reasons to seek it out are the extras. "Animal (Fuck Like a Beast)", which had only appeared as a 1984 single, finally landed on an album here. There are also two new songs: "Rock and Roll to Death", which was later reissued on 1995's Still Not Black Enough, and "Sunset and Babylon", which has never appeared anywhere but this CD. Some of the other tracks were remixed for the release. It closes the band's Capitol chapter, following The Crimson Idol of 1992.
