Slappy is Green Day's second EP, released in 1990 on Lookout! Records. It arrived in the same year as their debut album 39/Smooth, and was pressed on vinyl in several different colours, though only in limited quantities. The dog on the sleeve was called Mickey, and "Slappy" was a nickname given to him by Mike Dirnt's friend Jason Relva, the same Jason Relva who later inspired the song J.A.R.

It matters because Billie Joe Armstrong has pointed to this record as the one where the band began to find its sound. The four tracks include a cover of "Knowledge" by the influential Californian punk band Operation Ivy. All four were gathered on the 1991 compilation 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours, so the songs have stayed easy to find. It is a short, early snapshot of a skate punk trio before Kerplunk! and Dookie.
