The First Session is an EP from the American alternative rock band Hole, released in 1997 on Sympathy for the Record Industry. It collects the whole of the band's first studio session, recorded on 17 March 1990, so it captures Hole at the very start, before anything had been pressed to an album.

It arrived with a twenty-page booklet about the group's early career, leading up to their debut album, Pretty on the Inside, in 1991. That makes it a handy companion for anyone tracing how the band began, well before Live Through This and Celebrity Skin. It was also Hole's last release for Sympathy for the Record Industry.
