The Definitive Collection is a compilation from the British-American rock band Whitesnake, released on 7 February 2006 through Geffen. It gathers most of the band's biggest hits on a single CD, making it a handy way into a catalogue that runs from the late 1970s blues-tinged hard rock of Trouble and Lovehunter through to the glossier, chart-minded sound of the 1987 self-titled album and Slip of the Tongue.

One oddity is worth knowing about. "Pride and Joy" isn't a Whitesnake song at all, but a track by Coverdale•Page, the pairing of David Coverdale and Jimmy Page. Its place here makes the disc a bit more than a standard run through the band's own singles. For listeners who want the hard rock and metal highlights without committing to a stack of studio albums, it does the job neatly.
