Tejas
Tejas is the fifth studio album by ZZ Top, released in 1976 on London Records. It followed Fandango! from 1975 and came just ahead of a three-year gap before Degüello arrived in 1979. The title is the Spanish spelling of Texas, a fitting name for a band so closely tied to the state's sound.
The record sits in the stretch of the band's career when they were still best known for a blend of boogie rock, blues rock and Texas blues, with hard rock and southern rock flavours around the edges. It predates the sleeker, more polished records of the 1980s that began with Eliminator, so it is a good place to hear the trio in their earlier, rootsier form.
