1916
1916 is Motörhead's ninth studio album, and it arrived in January 1991, their first release on WTG Records. The date to note is 21 January 1991, though in the UK and Europe it came out a few days earlier, on 18 January, with the US following on 26 February. It sits between Rock 'n' Roll and March ör Die in the band's run of records.
The single "The One to Sing the Blues" reached number 45, giving the record a presence on the singles chart. It is also the last Motörhead album to feature Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor on drums for its full length, which makes it a marker for anyone following the band's line-up through the years. Its sound is rooted in hard rock and traditional heavy metal.
