Almost Unplugged
Almost Unplugged is a live album by the Swedish hard rock band Europe, released in 2008. It was recorded at Nalen, a venue in Stockholm, on 26 January 2008, with the band joined by a string quartet. The album is dedicated to Michelle Meldrum, John Norum's late wife.
It arrives between Secret Society and Last Look at Eden, and it shows the band stepping back from full volume. Their own songs are reworked for the occasion, and they also take on covers of Pink Floyd, UFO, Led Zeppelin and Thin Lizzy, the kind of bands that shaped their sound over the years. That choice of material makes it a good listen for anyone curious about where Europe's roots lie. A DVD followed in 2009.
