Album
Start From the Dark
Start From the Dark is the sixth studio album by the Swedish rock band Europe, released on 22 September 2004. It marked their return after reforming in 2003, and it was their first set of all-new material since Prisoners in Paradise in 1991. It also brought guitarist John Norum back to a Europe studio album for the first time since The Final Countdown in 1986.
The band chose not to revisit their 1980s glam metal sound. Instead they aimed for something more current, with a drier mix and detuned guitars. As vocalist Joey Tempest put it, they wanted to start "like a fresh band really". It is worth hearing as the record that reset Europe's story, and it went on to sell more than 600,000 copies worldwide.
