Suicidal Final Art
Suicidal Final Art is a compilation from the Swedish melodic death metal band At the Gates, and it was their first release of that kind. It came out on 26 June 2001 through Peaceville. The title is borrowed from a line in the title track of Slaughter of the Soul, which gives the collection a direct link to the album the band are most closely associated with.
It arrives after the band's four studio albums, from The Red in the Sky Is Ours in 1992 to Slaughter of the Soul in 1995, and many years before their return with At War With Reality in 2014. For anyone wanting a way into the group's early work, or a tidy gathering of it in one place, it is a useful marker of how the band were being looked back on at the start of the 2000s.
