World Coming Down
World Coming Down is the fifth studio album by the American gothic metal band Type O Negative, released through Roadrunner Records in September 1999. It followed October Rust (1996) and came after a run of deaths in frontman Peter Steele's family, which shaped its mood. The band also wanted to step away from the sexually charged themes of their earlier records.
The result is generally seen as the darkest music they made, sitting at the point where gothic and doom metal meet. It was also their first album to reach the Top 40 of the Billboard 200. For anyone who knew the band through the more playful side of Bloody Kisses and its successor, this is the heavier, bleaker turn, and a very different listen.
