Long Way Home
Long Way Home is Dokken's eighth studio album, released in April 2002 on Universal Music. It arrived after Erase the Slate in 1999 and before Hell to Pay in 2004, and it stands as a one-off in the band's catalogue: the only Dokken record to feature John Norum of Europe on guitar. It also marks the first time bassist Barry Sparks appeared on a Dokken album.
The material sits firmly in hard rock territory. The album includes a cover of "Heart Full of Soul", the 1965 Yardbirds single written by Graham Gouldman of 10cc, which makes an interesting detour for a band better known for its own songwriting. Some editions of the cover art carried a special lighting effect around the figure of the model. For anyone tracing the group's later years, the Norum line-up makes this a distinctive stop.
