One Live Night is a semi-acoustic live album by Dokken, released in 1995. The reunited band recorded it in front of an audience at The Strand, an intimate venue in Redondo Beach, California, on 13 December 1994, ahead of their 1995 tour. It also came out on VHS and later on DVD.
The timing explains the format. Grunge and alternative rock ruled the mainstream, and MTV had little time for glam metal, so Dokken made their own "unplugged" record. The set stretches from "Tooth and Nail", "Into the Fire" and "Alone Again" to covers of the Beatles' "Nowhere Man" and Emerson, Lake & Palmer's "From the Beginning". It's worth hearing for those stripped-back versions of familiar songs, and for the unexpected choice of covers.
