Album
Genesis XIX
Genesis XIX is the sixteenth studio album by the German thrash metal band Sodom, released on 27 November 2020 on Steamhammer. It follows Decision Day from 2016 and comes before The Arsonist in 2025. The band produced it themselves, and Joe Petagno designed the artwork, as he had for the previous record.
The big story is the line-up. Guitarist Frank Blackfire returns for the first time since Agent Orange in 1989, joined by new recruits Yorck Segatz on guitar and Toni Merkel on drums. That makes this the first Sodom album recorded as a quartet rather than a trio, so it's worth hearing for how a second guitarist changes the shape of the band's thrash attack.
