Singles Collected

Popularity44.1

Singles Collected is an R.E.M. compilation gathering singles from the band's early years, running from the debut album Murmur in 1983 through to Document in 1987. It brings together A-sides and B-sides, so it covers the band's time with I.R.S. Records rather than their later work.

It came out on 22 September 1994 on I.R.S., the label that had launched the group. It was the last R.E.M. release the label put out, and I.R.S. folded two years afterwards. For anyone who knows the band mainly from the bigger records of the 1990s, it is a handy way into the first chapter of their story, with the B-sides adding a few extras beyond the usual hits.
