Live at the Olympia
Live at the Olympia captures R.E.M. during a five-night residency at Dublin's Olympia Theatre, held between 30 June and 5 July 2007. The band billed the shows as "working rehearsals", and they used the stand to debut songs from Accelerate, many of them still taking shape. Every track from that record turns up except "Hollow Man" and "Sing for the Submarine".
Released in October 2009, it is a two-CD set of 39 songs, and it arrives with a DVD of Vincent Moon's documentary This Is Not a Show. A box set adds the album on four LPs alongside the CDs and DVD. It's a good listen for anyone curious about how the songs of Accelerate sounded before they were polished, played by a band working them out in front of an audience.
