Greatest Hits

Popularity29.6

Greatest Hits is Train's first compilation, released on 9 November 2018 through Columbia. It arrived more than two decades after the San Francisco band's self-titled debut in 1996, and it draws on every one of their studio albums up to that point, so it works as a tidy overview of a long and varied career.

Two things set it apart from a simple run through the back catalogue. There is a cover of Wham!'s "Careless Whisper" with saxophonist Kenny G, a playful nod to the 1980s that suits a band happy to wear its pop instincts openly. There is also "Call Me Sir", a single included here alongside the familiar material. If you want one disc that follows Train from their early days through to the late 2010s, this is a sensible place to start.
