AM Gold

AM Gold is Train's eleventh studio album, released on 20 May 2022 through Columbia. It arrived five years after a girl a bottle a boat, and it sits in a run of records that includes the Led Zeppelin II tribute and the Christmas set Christmas In Tahoe. By this point the San Francisco pop rock band had been making albums for over a quarter of a century, since their self-titled debut in 1996.

It is also a record with a distinction of its own: it is the first Train album of new songs that did not reach the Billboard 200. For anyone who has followed the band from Drops of Jupiter onwards, that makes it a quieter chapter and a useful one to explore, a look at where Train stood in the early 2020s, well after the radio years.
