Album
Metal Jukebox
Metal Jukebox is a cover album by the German power metal band Helloween, released on 9 November 1999 through Victor. Rather than offering new songs of their own, the band turned to other people's material and gave it their speed and power metal treatment. "Lay All Your Love on Me" was issued as a single in Japan.
The record arrived between Better Than Raw (1998) and The Dark Ride (2000), making it a sideways step in the band's run of studio albums. The way it was made is unusual too: each member recorded their parts separately, in different countries and studios, and everything was then assembled at Andi Deris' studio in Tenerife. It is worth hearing for the novelty of that approach and for seeing how a well-known metal band reshapes songs from outside its own catalogue.
