Kettle Whistle
Kettle Whistle is a compilation from Jane's Addiction, released in 1997 on Warner Bros. Records. It was put together to coincide with the band's 1997 "Relapse" tour, and it was originally going to be called It's My Party. Rather than a straightforward greatest-hits set, it gathers new, alternate, unreleased and live tracks, with liner notes featuring an anecdotal piece on the band by Henry Rollins.
It sits between the band's two early studio albums, Nothing's Shocking and Ritual de lo habitual, and their return with Strays in 2003. The big draw for fans is Flea on bass, the only time he plays on a Jane's Addiction release; he had previously guested on trumpet on Nothing's Shocking. The record went gold in the US, passing 500,000 sales.
