The Spider’s Lullabye
The Spider's Lullabye is the sixth studio album by Danish heavy metal band King Diamond, released in June 1995. It follows The Eye from 1990 and arrived after a four-year hiatus. Unusually for the band, it isn't a full concept album: only half of the songs tell one connected story, while the rest stand alone. That makes it a looser listen than the band's other records.
It also marks a fresh start. Herb Simonsen on guitar, Chris Estes on bass and Darrin Anthony on drums all make their debut here. Guitarist Andy LaRocque has said it was the hardest King Diamond record to make, given the new line-up, the move to recording in the US and a different producer. The next album, The Graveyard, followed in 1996. LaRocque remastered The Spider's Lullabye for a reissue in 2009.
