Am I Evil
Am I Evil is a compilation from the British heavy metal band Diamond Head, released on 26 May 1987 by FM-Revolver Records. Heavy Metal Records reissued it in 1994. It gathers early recordings of the songs that later made up the band's 1982 album Borrowed Time, leaving out "Call Me", and adds two extra tracks, "Dead Reckoning" and "Sucking My Love". The latter had already appeared on their 1980 debut, Lightning to the Nations, while "Dead Reckoning" had turned up on the Four Cuts EP and as the B-side to "Call Me", both from 1982.
What makes it worth hearing is how rough and raw these versions sound next to the Borrowed Time recordings. Plenty of fans prefer them, blaming the band's former label, MCA, for pushing a more commercial sheen. Rodney Matthews, the Somerset illustrator who has worked with Thin Lizzy and Scorpions, painted the cover, just as he did for Borrowed Time.
