Diamond Head
Diamond Head are an English heavy metal band from Stourbridge in the West Midlands, formed in 1976 and still active today. The founding members were schoolfriends Brian Tatler on guitar and Duncan Scott on drums. Singer Sean Harris joined the same year, and bassist Collin Kimberley completed the line-up in 1978. They sit squarely within the new wave of British heavy metal.
Their early run of albums is where most listeners start: Lightning to the Nations arrived in 1980, followed by Borrowed Time in 1982 and Canterbury in 1983. Both of the first two remain their best-known records. The band later returned with a self-titled album in 2016 and The Coffin Train in 2019, and revisited their debut as Lightning to the Nations 2020. Metallica and Megadeth have both named them as an important early influence, which makes them a natural next stop for fans of Judas Priest, Saxon or Accept.
