1989-1999 is a compilation from Life of Agony, released in 1999 on Roadrunner Records. It gathers the first decade of an alternative metal band from Brooklyn, New York City, who formed in 1989 around singer Keith Caputo, bassist Alan Robert and guitarist Joey Z.

By the time it appeared, the band had made three studio albums: River Runs Red in 1993, Ugly in 1995 and Soul Searching Sun in 1997. River Runs Red, their debut, was later named by Rolling Stone as one of the Greatest Metal Albums of All Time. For anyone coming to the group afresh, or wanting a single record that covers their early years, this is a handy way in before exploring the full albums that followed much later.
