Under a Blood Red Sky
Under a Blood Red Sky is a live mini-album from the Irish rock band U2, released on 21 November 1983 on Island. Jimmy Iovine produced it, and its eight tracks were drawn from three concerts on the 1983 War Tour, including two songs from the band's 5 June show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
It arrived between the studio albums War (1983) and The Unforgettable Fire (1984), and it gave listeners a taste of what the band sounded like on stage. A concert film, U2 Live at Red Rocks: Under a Blood Red Sky, was shot at that same Red Rocks show and released as a companion piece. Together the album and film helped build U2's reputation around the world as a formidable live act, which makes this a good place to hear the band before their sound changed.
