Circle of Snakes
Circle of Snakes is the eighth studio album by American heavy metal band Danzig, released on 31 August 2004 through Regain Records. It followed 2002's Danzig 777: I Luciferi and came before Deth Red Sabaoth in 2010.
The title is one of its quiet distinctions. After the self-titled debut of 1988, every record had carried a number, from Lucifuge through to I Luciferi, so dropping the numeral marked a small break in the pattern. The first album has since often been called Danzig 1, which makes this the point where the habit ended. For anyone following the band's catalogue in order, it is the record that closes the run of numbered releases and opens a new chapter.
