Bestial Devastation
Bestial Devastation is the debut EP from Sepultura, the Brazilian band who would go on to become one of metal's most recognisable names. It was released in December 1985 on Cogumelo Produções, and it marks the group's first official recording. Originally it shared a split release with Overdose, whose contribution was titled Século XX.
For anyone tracing the band's story, this is where it begins, in a raw death metal form. The songs later reappeared as bonus tracks on the CD edition of Morbid Visions, the follow-up album, which makes that reissue a handy way to hear both together. Founding members Max and Igor Cavalera revisited the EP and Morbid Visions in 2023, re-recording them under their band Cavalera.
