I Am the Night
I Am the Night is the third studio album by Pantera, released on 16 August 1985 through Metal Magic Records. It comes from the band's early glam-leaning years, a good while before Cowboys From Hell reshaped them, and it was the last record to feature lead singer Terry Glaze. The genres attached to it run from glam metal to hard rock.
It appeared only on vinyl and cassette, so any CD copies you come across are bootlegs taken from those originals. "Hot and Heavy" was issued as a single and backed by the band's second music video. The album sold more than 25,000 copies, a healthy figure for an independent release. It is worth hearing as a snapshot of Pantera before the sound and line-up changed, and for tracing how far they travelled afterwards.
