Power Metal is the fourth album by Pantera, the American heavy metal band, and it came out through Metal Magic Records in 1988. It was the record where the group began to move away from the glam metal style of their early years, and it picks up traces of speed and thrash metal alongside the pop metal leanings they had before.

That makes it a real turning point in the Pantera story. It has been described as a bridge between their glam beginnings and the heavier groove metal sound of the records that followed, beginning with Cowboys From Hell in 1990. Phil Anselmo's vocals are a big part of the appeal, with a delivery that has been compared to Judas Priest. If you want to hear a band mid-transformation, this is the one to put on.
