Out of the Cellar
Out of the Cellar is the debut studio album by the American band Ratt, released on 17 February 1984 through Atlantic Records. It arrived as the first chapter in a catalogue that would run through to Infestation in 2010, and it set the template for everything that followed: heavy metal and hard rock played with a glam metal gloss, rooted in the Los Angeles scene.
The response was immediate. Radio picked it up widely, and MTV put its singles into heavy rotation, none more so than "Round and Round". The album went triple platinum with the RIAA and lifted Ratt to the top of the LA glam metal pile. It remains the band's most successful record. Its standing has lasted, too: Metal Hammer included it among ten hair metal albums worth owning in 2017, and Consequence picked it for a similar list a year later.
