Faster Pussycat
Faster Pussycat's self-titled debut came out on Elektra on 7 July 1987. It's a glam metal and hard rock record from the American band, and it reached number 97 on the Billboard 200. It's the first of four studio albums, ahead of Wake Me When It's Over, Whipped! and The Power & the Glory Hole.
The record has plenty of Sunset Strip colour around it. Russ Meyer directed the video for "Don't Change That Song", and "Babylon" features scratching from Riki Rachtman, a club DJ who shared a flat with singer Taime Downe and helped him open the Cathouse nightclub. The band played "Cathouse" and "Bathroom Wall" in The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years, and were interviewed in it too. Later lists from Metal Hammer and Consequence have recommended the album to anyone exploring hair metal, and Rock Candy Records has reissued it on CD with expanded liner notes and photos.
