Retribution for the Dead

Retribution for the Dead is an EP from the American death metal band Autopsy, released in 1990 by Peaceville. It sits between their debut album Severed Survival, which came out in 1989, and Mental Funeral, which followed in 1991, so it catches the band at a point where their sound was moving from one record to the next.

The EP's title track appears nowhere else, which gives collectors a good reason to track it down. Two of the other songs were later re-recorded for Mental Funeral, so it also works as an early look at material that would be reworked for that album. The band's mix of death and doom metal makes it a handy companion piece for anyone following Autopsy's early years.
