Gods on Voodoo Moon
Gods on Voodoo Moon is the first recording from American band White Zombie, put out independently as an EP in 1985. It sits right at the start of their story, a couple of years before their debut album Soul-Crusher arrived in 1987.
The sound leans towards noise and noise rock, a rawer place than the groove-heavy metal the band would later be known for. It is also the only record to feature Paul "Ena" Kostabi on guitar and Peter Landau on drums, which makes it a snapshot of an early line-up that did not last. For anyone tracing the road from here to Make Them Die Slowly and La Sexorcisto, it shows where it all began.
